Sherwood Forest Residential and Nursing Home is situated across two suites with a registered manager in each, and provides a range of residential, nursing, dementia and palliative care.

Accommodation

Sherwood Suite provides nursing, palliative and residential care for up to 38 people aged over 65 and Forest Suite provides care and support for 37 people living with dementia over the age of 50.

All bedrooms have en-suite toilet facilities and we provide care and support that is tailored to meet individual’s needs, wishes and choices.

Sherwood Suite has three spacious lounge areas, incorporating a sun lounge, a cosy quiet lounge and a conservatory overlooking the beautifully landscaped garden where residents can relax in the warmer summer months. There is also a large dining room and access to private garden areas.

Forest Suite has two large lounge areas also overlooking the garden, as well as a large dining room where people can relax, socialise and enjoy meals.

The home is in a quiet residential area, located on the outskirts of the city of Derby. It is easily accessible by car and is on several main bus routes. There are two parks, local shops and supermarkets within walking distance of the home. Churches of varying denominations are also close by.

Our team

Our care team is on-hand 24 hours a day, every day of the year and staff are dedicated to delivering care with kindness.

To ensure we continue to provide the best standards of care and support to our residents, we recruit and train only the best staff.

Whilst they receive a variety of on-going training to ensure their skills remain up-to-date, along with an enhanced PVG check, it is their dedication to our residents which makes them truly special.

Activities

Our activities co-ordinators organise an extensive range of activities which individuals can choose to become involved in. This may include playing bingo, card games, having manicures, taking part in karaoke, quizzes, watching films, painting and listening to music. We also offer opportunities for people to go on excursions in the local area. The activities offered are very much based on the individual person’s choice and interests.

We encourage regular interaction with the local community and encourage friends and family to be involved through regular visits and participation in special activities, events and open days.

We have an in-house hairdressing salon and residents also have regular visits from chiropodists, opticians and other professionals.

Care and Support

We aim to empower residents to make their own choices about how they live their life and believe that every individual irrespective of their physical, social or psychological condition has the right to be treated with dignity and respect and supported to maintain choice and control over their own lives.

We understand that people bring with them a life story of achievements, events and life experiences and know that this information is essential to ensure a tailored care package for each individual’s specific needs, particularly for those with memory loss.

Our person-centred assessments are all tailored to the whole person and we will look at what people can do, not just what they need assistance with. Most importantly we ensure that the individual themselves and their loved ones help us to put together a bespoke plan of care. We appreciate how difficult the decision is to move into permanent or even short stay care and we aim to make this transition as easy as possible.

Home-cooked meals

Meals are an important part of the day at Sherwood Forest Care Centre and our expert catering staff provide a varied menu of fresh home cooked food every day and we cater for individual likes and dislikes from a religious, cultural or choice perspective.
