Rushyfields Residential and Nursing Home provides tailored dementia, nursing and residential care for adults in a caring, friendly and comfortable environment.
The home is situated on the outskirts of Durham in the centre of Brandon, a small village with several shops, pubs, churches and a community centre.
At Rushyfields Care Centre we have 41 modern bedrooms, all of which have en-suite shower rooms.
Each bedroom has a plasma TV, as well as bedside lights and an emergency call system. The home has a number of comfortable lounges and dining rooms where residents can relax.
Our care team is on-hand 24 hours a day, every day of the year and staff are dedicated to delivering care with kindness. We have our own in-house hairdressing salon and chiropodists, physiotherapists, opticians and other professionals visit regularly.
To ensure we continue to provide the best standards of care and support to our residents, we recruit and train only the best staff.
Whilst they receive a variety of on-going training to ensure their skills remain up-to-date, along with an enhanced PVG check, it is their dedication to our residents which makes them truly special.
Our activities co-ordinator ensures a wide range of activities are always available including games, arts and crafts and monthly themed activity nights. Speakers and entertainers visit the home on a regular basis and we support residents to pursue any activities or hobbies they had prior to coming to Rushyfields.
We also encourage regular interaction with the local community and friends and family are always welcome to be involved through regular visits and participation at special activities, events and open days.
We aim to empower residents to make their own choices about how they live their lives and believe every individual irrespective of their physical, social or psychological condition has the right to be treated with dignity and respect and supported to maintain choice and control over their own lives.
We understand that people bring with them a life story of achievements, events and life experiences and know that this information is essential to ensure a tailored care package for each individual’s specific needs.
Our person-centred assessments are tailored to the whole person and we will look at what people can do, not just what they need assistance with. Most importantly we ensure that the individual themselves and their loved ones help us to put together a bespoke plan of care. We appreciate how difficult the decision is to move into permanent or even short stay care and we aim to make this transition as easy as possible.
Meal times are an important part of the day. Our experienced catering staff prepare a menu of home cooked food each day, based upon accredited guidelines following Durham County Council training. We cater for individual likes and dislikes from a cultural, religious or choice perspective. Room service is also available.
