Watlington is a beautiful care home located in a stunning rural village in Oxfordshire.

With views across the picturesque Chiltern Hills and on the doorstop of the GP surgery, our care home is also close to all the shops, boutiques, eateries and other attractions the area has to offer.

Our dedicated team provides a range of care and support for our residents, including nursing care, dementia care, palliative care, intermediate care and respite care.

Our care home has been designed with the usual comforts and luxuries you’d expect such as homely lounges, welcoming dining rooms and cosy bedrooms, which provide a warm place for our residents to rest and relax.

The care home is surrounded by beautiful gardens and has a stunning new orangey overlooking the grounds, as well a minibus for fun day trips.

However it’s the small personal touches and our friendly team, who care for our residents as if they were members of their own family, which makes Watlington a true home from home.

We welcome visits from family and friends and have an open door policy, so whether loved ones like to pop in for a coffee or take part in an activity, we encourage them to become part of the community within our home.

We hold relatives’ meetings, enabling loved ones to be directly involved in everyday life at Watlington.

Accommodation

We have extensively refurbished Watlington to the stunning home it is today. Our 60 spacious en-suite bedrooms all come with flat screen televisions and the majority have telephone points.

Bedrooms are beautifully decorated and furnished, although we do encourage residents to bring personal ornaments, pictures and small items of furniture to make their rooms their own.

We have several homely lounge areas for our residents to use as they wish, whether taking part in activities, catching up with friends and family or simply reading a good book.

Overlooking the care home’s gardens; our bright and airy orangery is a delightful setting for our residents to relax in the sunshine.

Our dining rooms provide a welcoming atmosphere to enjoy delicious home-cooked meals in the company of others.

The extensive gardens are landscaped with raised flower beds for our residents who like to do a spot of light gardening. The grounds also include a water feature, peaceful walk-way and seating areas and a large front lawn which is a lovely focal point for summer garden parties.

Watlington’s features include:

  • Spacious en-suite bedrooms, with telephone and television points
  • Several lounge areas
  • A bright and airy orangery
  • Dining rooms where our residents enjoy home-cooked meals
  • Beautiful gardens with raised flower beds
  • A hairdressing room

Activities

We believe it is important that our residents spend their time as they choose, so have a dedicated activities person to support them to take part in interesting activities, rekindle old past times and try new things.

The care home has a hairdressing salon and our residents also enjoy being pampered with manicures and hand massages.

Regular activities on offer include everything from a gardening club, animal therapy, bingo, quizzes, baking, arts and crafts and live music entertainment, as well as regular themed community events such as summer fetes and Christmas fairs.

Our residents also take part in day trips in our minibus to local cafés, garden centres and even a donkey sanctuary.

Home-cooked meals

Our catering team prides themselves on preparing nutritious, seasonal home-cooked meals, along with mouth-watering home-baked cakes for afternoon tea.

Residents help us to shape the menus and our catering team spends time with them to get feedback on the dishes and their likes and dislikes. They are also able to cater for a variety of dietary requirements.

Breakfast includes a wide variety of choice from cereals and toast to a traditional cooked breakfast.

Lunch and dinnertimes see a selection of sandwiches, homemade soups, salads, jacket potatoes and hot meals such as a Sunday roast with all the trimmings and favourites including fish and chips, cottage pie and a hearty casserole.

There is also an array of snacks and refreshments available throughout the day for residents and their loved ones if they get a bit peckish.

Care and Support

We pride ourselves on treating people as individuals, so all our residents have care plans tailored to their individual medical, social and emotional needs. We review care plans on a regular basis and involve family and friends in this process wherever possible.

The range of personal care services we can provide, in partnership with local professionals, include:

  • Chiropody
  • Hairdressing
  • Optical care
  • Dental care
  • GP
  • Key worker

Our team

Our care team is on-hand 24 hours a day, every day of the year and staff are dedicated to delivering care with kindness.

To ensure we continue to provide the best standards of care and support to our residents, we recruit and train only the best staff.

Whilst they receive a variety of on-going training to ensure their skills remain up-to-date, along with an enhanced DBS check (formerly CRB), it is their dedication to our residents which makes them truly special.
