Residents at a Sanctuary Care home in Upton-upon-Severn tried their hand at bell ringing with Worcestershire group The Random Ringers.
26 hand bells filled Beechwood Residential Care Home with the sound of music when a group of bell ringers performed ‘songs from the shows’ last week.
Following the performance, which included ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ and ‘If I Were a Rich Man’, residents rang the bells for themselves.
Through donations made for performances, the group raises funds for Joss Searchlight, a charity set up in May 2011 after the death of Joss Parkes, a 10-year-old boy who lost his fight against a brain tumour.
Joss was the grandson of Mary Bickmore, a member of The Random Ringers.
The charity provides support for families with children suffering from cancer. It has a helpline, provides advice and aims dreams come true for children diagnosed with a life threatening brain tumour by organising special events and treats.
