Green fingered residents at a Sanctuary Care home in Bromsgrove have planted sweet treats for Cancer Prevention Fruity Friday.
To support the World Cancer Research Fund’s national event, residents at Breme Care Home, which provides care for the elderly, including residential care and dementia care, planted strawberry plants in hanging baskets.
This week’s Fruity Friday event has seen people across the country add one more portion of fruit to their ‘five a day’ to reduce the risk of developing cancer.
Activities leader Helen Barron said: “Our residents love gardening and getting outdoors so we thought what better way to support this event than by creating beautiful baskets to provide us with strawberries all summer.”
Scientific research shows that healthy eating, physical activity and maintaining a healthy weight can prevent about a third of all common cancers.
