A Sanctuary Care home in Iffley is opening its doors to carers from the local area in support of Carers Week.
Iffley Residential and Nursing Home, on Anne Greenwood Close, is inviting carers from the community to drop into the care home on Wednesday 11 June between 10am and 4pm to take some time out to relax with fellow carers from the area at a free pamper afternoon.
Carers will be treated to free manicures and hand massages, as well as blow-drys from local hairdresser Sue Birch Hairdressing. There will also be delicious chocolates and champagne available throughout the afternoon.
The event will give people who dedicate their time to caring for others the chance to take some time out and have an enjoyable and relaxing afternoon, while chatting to other carers and finding out more about the support available to them.
Pamela Harper, home manager at Iffley, said: “The work of carers can often go unseen, and they can feel very isolated and unsupported.
“We wanted to give local carers a well-deserved treat and a pamper while giving them the chance to connect with people they can share experiences with.”
Carers Week, 9-15 June, is an annual awareness campaign that lives of carers and the people they care for by raising the profile of the role of caring, celebrating and recognising what carers do and highlighting the challenges of caring.
