A Sanctuary Care resident will celebrate her 100th birthday with her four-week-old great grandson by her side.
The birthday girl will enjoy a party surrounded by her family, including four-week-old Henry.
Tilly said: “I don’t feel 100 – maybe about mid 80s!”
One of nine children – with her last surviving sibling Violet passing away last year at 105 – Tilly was born in Wolverhampton.
On Boxing Day 1934 she wed childhood sweetheart Norman and enjoyed a happy marriage until he sadly died in 1989.
The couple had four children Margaret, Norman, Colin and Raymond, who passed away at the age of 75.
Margaret said: “She was a lovely, gentle mum and very affectionate. She was always the head of the family and was always in charge.
“We were a very close, happy family. She has always been here for us and we are there for her - and always have been.”
Tilly, who has 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren, loves football and supports Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Last year she decided it was time to move into a care home, so her family found Highcroft Hall.
Margaret added: “She is very happy there and the staff are very caring – they are lovely to her.”
Home manager, Andrew Greenway said: “Tilly is an absolutely lovely, gentle lady and our other residents love sitting and chatting to her. She is very outgoing and friendly and you wouldn’t believe she is 100.”
