A Sanctuary Care home in Wolverhampton has been adorned with silk poppies and flags to mark the start of the Centenary.
The flags will be flying high at Highcroft Hall Residential Care Home this week as the residents and team look at authentic World War One memorabilia.
Among the items are a selection of medals and even a grenade, which has been turned into a money box.
Singer Linda Mae will be dressed to impress to perform songs that boosted the morale of the troops, including Pack Up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit Bag.
There will also be a small raffle to raise money for Help for Heroes, supporting wounded personnel and veterans and their loved ones.
August marks the start of the Centenary, where people across the world will host events to mark the beginning of World War One in August 1914.
Manager of the home, which provides residential care and dementia care, Andrew Greenway said: “So many of our residents lived in the post war era so it was really important to them that we marked the start of the Centenary.”
