Green fingered residents at a Sanctuary Care home in Bromsgrove have been skinning, slicing and stewing to create their very own mouth-watering chutneys.
After a bumper season in the orchard and poly-tunnels, they have spent the week making delicious chutneys to sell at the home.
Activities leader Helen Barron said: “This has been an absolutely wonderful reminiscence activity for our residents and the joy they have got out of making something special from their home-grown produce has been lovely to watch.
“The smell of the tomatoes and cinnamon cooking together has conjured up some very happy memories and we have had so much fun making it.”
Resident Violet Moore, who is 88 years old and has lived at Breme for six years, said: “The lovely smells took me back to Christmas morning. We would make chutneys at this time of year but wouldn’t open them until Christmas day, when we would have them with cooked hams.”
The chutneys will be sold in the reception at Breme and the money raised will go to the Residents Activities Fund, which pays for trips and treats for the residents to enjoy.
