A four-legged friend trotted its way through a Sanctuary Care home in Exeter to mark Donkey Week.
The team and residents at Greenslades Nursing Home in Willeys Avenue welcomed a Mediterranean Miniature donkey through their doors to celebrate the international awareness week.
Juniper the donkey
Juniper, who is the size of a Great Dane dog, from The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth was the star of the show. Residents petted and stroked the 13-year-old visitor and even got the chance to feed him a carrot or two.
The perfect way to celebrate
The Sanctuary Care home’s activities leader, Kirsty Sparkes, said: “Our residents love visits from animals, especially animals that you don’t see every day. When Juniper arrived their faces lit up and seeing the happiness and comfort they got from seeing him made us all smile.
“We’ve had many visits from The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth – Juniper is so placid and great with the residents – he was the perfect donkey to celebrate Donkey Week with.”
