A Sanctuary Care home in Wantage has marked the end of summer in style with a community knees-up.
The team and residents at Wantage Nursing Home in Garston Lane invited people from the local area along to their home for an afternoon of great cheer and music with local folk band.
Barns dances and singing galore
There were barn dances and singing galore from local folk band Pandemonium. The local entertainment group performed live with a range of unusual instruments including a banjo and a bodhran (an Irish hand drum).
86-year-old resident, Elizabeth Blewitt said: “I really enjoyed Pandemonium – the music was fantastic and I just wanted to sing and dance with them!”
Fellow resident, Winsome Devery, 79, added: “I had a wonderful time and enjoyed all songs, especially the romantic and fast ones.”
Ending summer in style!
The home’s activities assistant, Liliana Fludra, concluded: “Our End of Summer party was fantastic – the afternoon was filled with great atmosphere and lovely music. It was lovely to see how much the residents enjoyed Pandemonium – everyone was singing along and toe-tapping away. We ended the summer in style!”
