A new £4.4 million residential dementia care home in Hersden has been officially opened by Sanctuary Care.
Meadow View, which features 60 en-suite bedrooms, has been developed by leading housing provider Sanctuary Group, the parent company of Sanctuary Care, and provides a home for people living with dementia.
The home was opened by Lord Mayor of Canterbury Cllr Sally Waters who was given a tour to see the facilities available to residents including a sensory garden and hair salon. The tour was followed by a performance from a swing band and the cutting of a cake.
Mrs Waters said: “I was delighted to visit Sanctuary’s latest development in the area and see how the residents are settling into their new home. It was wonderful to see how residents’ bedrooms had been individually personalised by them with their own ornaments and pictures giving a personal touch.
“Meadow View really does provide the residents with a home from home with a fantastic range of facilities available to them.”
Mark McCarthy, Managing Director – Sanctuary Care, commented: “I was delighted to welcome local dignitaries, including the Lord Mayor, to show them our fantastic care home.
“Our priority is to provide the very best care and support to our residents and it was wonderful to see them already settling into their new home which, I’ve no doubt, will be a real asset to the local community.”
The development has been built by Sanctuary’s appointed contractor Castleoak, specialist construction partners to the care sector.
