The leading housing and care provider organised a seasonal celebration for residents living on the site, complete with festive treats, their Christmas tree light switch on and plenty of singing.
Residents at the development off Bromyard Road in St John’s live across four services – a 60-bed care home, a mix of 24 retirement living apartments and bungalows, 60 independent living apartments with on-site services and 15 apartments for adults with learning disabilities.
Adorned with handmade Christmas decorations created by the residents, the tree lights were switched on by Norah Harris, who is a resident at Sanctuary’s Juniper House Residential Care Home and turned 101 in November, and Mark McCarthy, managing director of Sanctuary Care, part of Sanctuary Group.
Following the switch on, residents enjoyed tea, coffee and mince pies over a festive performance from the Worcester Sanctuary Group staff choir. Currently touring the county, the choir sang a mix of classic carols including Hark! The Herald Angels Sing and more modern Yuletide classics like Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas.
Mark McCarthy said: “As our flagship Worcester development, we wanted to establish a community across all our services.
“I was delighted to see Norah again and meet residents from across the site to get Christmas started. With it being just round the corner, this event was a great way to bring our residents together and see in the festive season.”
Norah added: “I love this time of the year and always have - I felt very proud to be asked to switch on the lights. I had a really lovely time and the choir were very good.”
