Residents at a Sanctuary Care home in Bromsgrove have been jigging along to ‘old classics’ with uplifting music to movement therapy sessions.
Armed with maracas, tambourines, mini drums and bells, the residents of Breme Care Home, which provides residential care and dementia care, in Providence Road have been reconnecting to memorable hits from yesteryear.
Adele Willetts from Melody Therapy regularly leads the sessions at the home, where residents play musical instruments, march and dance along to their favourite songs, including ‘You are my Sunshine’.
Following the latest session the home’s activities leader Helen Barron said: “Our residents adore Adele, she’s amazing with them and her voice is just beautiful.
“Her singing is so uplifting and the residents find her sessions a lot of fun, it’s a really engaging way to help keep them active.”
Ninety-three-year-old resident Margaret Devane said: “It was great to take part in such an active and engaging session.”
Fellow resident Patrick Maddox, who is 82 added: “The music was absolutely wonderful and I recognised every song she sang!”
