Our Oxfordshire care homes are throwing open their doors to host events to remember for Care Home Open Day tomorrow.
Friday 17 June marks the fourth annual Care Home Open Day, when homes nationwide welcome people to share a special day with their teams and residents, forging lasting links with their local communities.
Sanctuary Care’s Oxfordshire homes are supporting the event for the fourth year running with royal themed birthday celebrations.

Hosting a community day to remember, the team and residents at Yarnton Residential and Nursing Home will ensure the bunting will be up, cupcakes baked to perfection and the crowns are sparkling ready for their Queen’s 90th birthday-themed celebrations at 11am.
As part of the free event there will be live music from singer Andrew Francis, a performance from choristers at William Fletcher Primary School, as well as a delicious buffet, with a vintage sweet cart and jugs of Pimm’s.
Meanwhile in Wantage, the team at Wantage Nursing Home will be continuing the royal themed celebrations at 10am. The tea party will include toe-tapping music from Phil Baker at 11.30am, homemade fish and chips for lunch and delicious cakes available throughout the day.
The team and residents will be suitably dressed in homemade crowns and tiaras.
Finally, the team and residents at Iffley Residential and Nursing Home are hosting a fabulous King and Queen’s garden party between 11am and 3.30pm.
There will be live music entertainment from Cody, who will be singing patriotic songs while handing out red, white and blue flowers, a raffle and a crown and tiara competition.
Delicious refreshments will also be available, including cakes and ice-cream from the home’s very own ice-cream van.
