Richard Burt, Sanctuary Care’s cycling hero, has surpassed the £20,000 mark on his Virgin Money Giving Page – over a month before he and his team have hit any hills.
The 62-year-old is embarking on a record-breaking 100 cycling climb to raise £50,000 for Dementia UK – a cause so close to his heart because of his dear mum Peggy.
With over a month to go, Richard and his team are busy spreading the word of his cycling challenge, as well as cramming in as much training as possible.
He said: “It’s such a great feeling to have hit the £20,000 mark and I can’t express how grateful I am for every penny, it really does mean the world to me and my family and makes all the tiring pedalling worth it.
“I still have a long way to go until I reach target but I am more than confident we will get there – if you do know anyone who would like to support me and my team please do spread the word.”
Donations so far are from loved ones and friends, as well as strangers who have read about Richard’s story online. Quotes of encouragement include: “Good luck Richard, best wishes from a fellow cyclist who loved his mum also.”
