Friends of a feathered variety took flight to a Sanctuary Care home in Chester this week to visit residents and the team.
Tawny Owl Twiggy and Barn Owl Spike were quite a hit, with resident Kenneth Richardson, who is 85 years old saying: “I thought it was a great opportunity to examine and hold the owls so closely, it was very enjoyable.”
Meanwhile fellow resident, 78-year-old Gill Hunt added: “They were beautiful. We learnt all about them and their ways, it was lovely to hold them what a great experience.”
Upton Dene’s activities leader Julie Harvey said the residents were “overwhelmed” to see the owls. She said: “They absolutely loved what for many, was the first time that they have got up close with these beautiful creatures. The joy in their eyes was wonderful to see and there were smiles all round.”
