A Sanctuary Care home in the heart of Hersden has celebrated its first anniversary with fizz, special VIP visits and fond memories.
The team and residents enjoyed a slice of the celebrations at Meadow View Residential Care Home in Blackthorn Road, where the home rejoiced a year since it officially opened in 2015.
Sharing cherish memories
Sharing their most memorable occasion or favourite activity, residents and the team brought their cherished memories back to life by drawing and writing them on beautiful Christmas star decorations, which will be hung on the home’s Christmas tree.
92-year-old resident Annie Winkworth said: “I love everything here at the home, it’s so special here.”
Fellow resident Micky Chalk, 77, added: “On my first visit after meeting all the people, I know this was a special home.”
Finally, Jean Leatherby, who is 82 years old added: “I love it here, my fondest memory was when a carer took me to my granddaughter’s wedding.”
There was also birthday cake and live music to mark the extra special occasion.
The Sanctuary Care home’s activities leader Christina York added: “We have only been open for one year but in that short time we have not only created a home for the incredible people who live here, but we truly feel part of our wonderful community – thank you to the people of Hersden who have made us feel so welcome.”
