Two Sanctuary Care homes in the heart of Essex are rallying behind Essex County Council’s #EssexDementiaDay with their free dementia awareness sessions this week.
The teams at Don Thomson House Residential Care Home in Low Road, Dovercourt and Lyons Court Residential Care Home in Canvey Walk, North Springfield will be hosting free Dementia Friends sessions on Friday 20 January.
The Alzheimer’s Society led initiative will not only provide people with an understanding of dementia but also demonstrate the small things local people can do to make a big difference to the lives of people living with dementia.
Claire Murphy, one of Sanctuary Care’s Dementia Friends, said: “We are all proud to be supporting #EssexDementiaDay – it’s a great way to raise awareness, as well as illustrate the simple ways we can support one another, whether its people living with dementia or their carers. We hope this will in turn help make Essex a more dementia friendly place.”
