Sanctuary Care homes throughout Worcestershire are raising a cuppa and baking sweet treats in aid of Dementia UK.
Throwing open the doors, the team and residents are hosting Time for a Cuppa tea parties for their local community, where visitors are invited to pop along and enjoy a hot drink and a variety of sweet treats in exchange for a donation.
On Wednesday 1 March between 10.30am and noon, the team and residents at Brambles Residential Care Home in Birchfield Road will be celebrating all things Welsh at their fundraising event.
There will be an abundance of daffodils, with residents also hand-crafting a variety of yellow flowers to transform the home into a scene from spring for the special occasion. Plus there will be toe-tapping music spanning the 1950s and 1960s with live musician Phoebe Marie.
Ivy Flaherty, 102-year-old resident (pictured) added: “The cakes will be great and the smell of daffodils will be beautiful – it will be a lovely day.”
Meanwhile in Worcester, the team and residents at Regent Residential Care Home in School Road, St John’s will be donning fabulous frocks, from polka dots to a-line skirts, for their 1940s-themed celebration on Thursday 2 March, between 10.30am and 3.30pm.
There will also be toe-tapping live music from the era with musical act the Poppy Sisters at 11am.
Activities leader Bridie Gray said: “Every year we support Dementia UK’s Time for a Cuppa as it’s a cause so close to our hearts. We are really pulling out all the stops to put on a lovely celebration for everyone to enjoy, so please come along and support us in our fundraising efforts.”
