A Sanctuary Care home in Hersden will be showing their support to local carers and people living with dementia at a free event next week.
The Dementia Information Evening will be taking place on Thursday 23 March from 6pm at Meadow View Residential Care Home in Blackthorn Road, in partnership with local charity East Kent Independent Dementia Support (EKIDS).
Free support and advice
The team will be offering free support for those caring for a loved one living with dementia. Dementia Nurse Specialists, from Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital and Kent & Canterbury Hospital, will also be attending to provide advice, and representatives from EKIDS will be available to talk about the range of support groups they host within the community.
The Sanctuary Care home’s manager Matt Wood said: “Carers in the community can sometimes feel very isolated so we want to give people the chance to meet others in a similar position to show they are not alone.
“We also wanted to show local people the great support network they have available in their own community.”
Tea, coffee and refreshments will be available.
