A Sanctuary Care home in Bromsgrove was a scene of celebrations today, after the home was awarded ‘Good’ by regulator Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Following an unannounced inspection, Breme Residential Care Home in Providence Road achieved ‘Good’ ratings in all five outcomes, including ‘caring’, ‘well-led’ and ‘effective’.
High tea celebrations
Inspectors highlighted how the staff were really “friendly and considerate”, while the home was run with a “supportive and open culture, with the focus on meeting people’s needs”.
To celebrate, residents and the team hosted a fabulous high-tea party today with mouth-watering cakes.
Providing the best possible care
Speaking about the glowing report, deputy home manager Vicky Collett said: “All the team here at Breme work so hard to provide the best possible care for our residents so we are all over the moon that this is reflected with such a positive rating.
“The reports highlights how exceptionally caring our staff are, how welcoming the home is and how supportive our management is, which is something we are so proud of.”
Kind and supportive staff
The report praised the home’s kind staff who care for people “in ways which helped residents enjoy the best health possible”. One resident told the CQC inspector: “The care is excellent as staff are kind and patient.”
Another person told the inspector: “I like living here because staff are kind and you can talk to them about anything.”
“…loving and caring home…”
Another area praised in the CQC report was the culture of the home, with one person telling the CQC inspector: “It’s a loving and caring home and this means people are safe and looked after.”
Another person continued: “Management do an amazing job. Everyone is happy,” with feedback from residents and their relatives describing Breme as “homely”, “inviting, warm and happy”.
Staff also praised the home, with one member of staff commenting: “I love it here, it feels like you are looking after your own relatives.”
Finally, the residential care home was also praised for the activities and stimulation within the home, with activities being resident-focused with one staff member explaining: “What we do with residents is as different as they are.”
The CQC inspector witnessed first-hand “people’s smiles” and how much “they enjoyed gentle exercises to music, quizzes and other musical activities” during their visit.
Located in quiet residential area, Breme Residential Care Home is designed with the usual comforts you’d expect such as welcoming lounges with fireplaces, light and airy dining rooms, landscaped gardens and cosy bedrooms.
