The team and residents at a Sanctuary Care home in Leicester are celebrating after the home was awarded a prestigious regional award by a leading guide to care homes.
Top 20 care home in East Midlands
Asra House Residential Care Home in Asha Margh, off Holden Street has gone head to head with 1,569 homes across the East Midlands region to scoop Top 20 Recommended Care Homes East Midlands 2017 award from the leading guide to care homes carehome.co.uk.
The awards were based on the home’s reviews from their residents, loved ones and visitors on the site. The site itself received over 45,000 reviews between July 2015 and March 2017.
Manager Dina Dasani said: “At Asra House we stay true to Sanctuary Care’s vision of keeping kindness at the heart of our care and I am thrilled this is reflected in the wonderful reviews made about our home and the dedicated team here.
“I feel so proud that we have received this award – it is testament to the truly incredible people here and the wonderful way they care for our residents, as if they were members of their own family, as well as the incredible support we get from senior management.”
On hearing about the win 84-year-old resident Kanal Dheshi said: “This is my home and I love it here I would not change a thing .The staff help me with everything. I enjoy painting and I continue this at Asra every day.”

Some of the comments made on carehome.co.uk by people reviewing Asra House include the following from the daughter of a resident: “We have had the best care from the Asra team. They have not only supported our dad but us family. We have had our grandparents also been cared for here and going by the reputation and our personal experience. I myself would look forward to retiring here. I can't thank the staff enough for all their dedication and going above and beyond their duty of care.”
Meanwhile another review from a resident’s son reads: “Excellent care home: building, facilities, rooms, food, management and care staff are all first rate. A very warm and caring home, a most homely and warm atmosphere which is a reflection of the staff. Mum is totally satisfied here - feeling happy, secure and safe. I haven't had a single complaint from mum and I don't expect to. I can rest assured that mum is in the care of staff and management at this wonderful care home.”
Another reviewer commented: “They treat the residents with dignity and respect.”
Meanwhile another said: “…a home from home in the best sense of the word.”
