The beautiful and wonderful flavours and traditions from across the globe will fill a Sanctuary Care home in Stepney next week, when the team and residents throw open the doors for a Care Home Open Day celebration.
On Friday 16 June, between 10:00am-12:00pm and 2:00pm-4:00pm, the team and residents at Hawthorn Green Residential and Nursing Home, in Redmans Road will welcome people from the community along for a very special occasion.
Food, dances and traditional dress from across the globe!
The theme for the free event will be a cultural celebration to rejoice the wonderful and diverse cultures the home’s team and Stepney community have to offer. In the morning there will be a breakfast-themed high-tea party with mouth-watering delicacies from across the globe.
At 2pm there will be an abundance of traditional dance when dancing company Golden Toes and the home’s activities co-ordinator Amma Nkrumah perform a number of styles, from flamenco and Bollywood to African, with members of the community invited to join in for a step or two.
At 3pm a community barbeque will be served which will include delicious cuisine from around the world, including jerk chicken, onion bhajis, samosas, burgers and hot dogs.
The team will also be dressed in traditional cultural dress for the vibrant celebrations.
