There will be fabulous frocks, cupcakes galore and a vintage tea dance at a Sanctuary Care home in Chester this week.
On Friday 16 June, people from the local community are invited to Upton Dene Residential and Nursing Home in Upton where there will be a Care Home Open Day celebration from 10am to noon and 2pm to 4pm.
Vintage tea dance
The fine china will be out, the floral bunting will be hung and an abundance of mouth-watering high-tea refreshments, including homemade cupcakes will be available when the Caldecott Close home throws open the doors.
In keeping with the vintage theme, the team will be dressed to impress in their finest vintage attire with polka dots and a-line skirts galore.
Special guests from Chester Zoo!
There will also be fun activities to take part in including music to dance along to and special guests from Chester Zoo – which hosts a dementia friendly coffee morning which Upton Dene is supporting – will be joining the fun festivities.
90-year-old resident Phyllis Roberts said: “I love to meet new people so I hope a lot of people come along and see what our celebrations are all about.”
Fellow resident Veronica Comerford, 92, added: “Our Care Home Open Day should be a lovely day – I’m looking forward to it all.”
Upton Dene’s activities leader Bernie Harding said: “Our residents love to see new and familiar faces from our community in their home so they are really looking forward to sharing some memorable moments for Care Home Open Day.”
