A Sanctuary Care resident in Bridgwater enjoyed a musical birthday after her wish to see a live jazz band came true.
Last week Joan Axtell celebrated her 95th birthday at The Rosary Nursing Home in Bridgwater, surrounded by her family, friends, the home’s team and fellow residents.
As part of the celebrations the home organised a very special surprise – for The Ambassador Jazz Band to give Joan a personal performance, fulfilling her wish to see a live jazz band. This was part of a lovely activity which regularly takes place at The Rosary, where residents write down things they would like to do and place them on a special wish tree.
Daughter Jayne said: “It was lovely to see mum smiling, laughing and enjoying herself.”
Her granddaughter Joanna added: “She had an amazing day which was made special by her relatives and all the staff at The Rosary. She enjoyed a lovely afternoon listening to the band.
“Celebrating her 95th birthday with Nana, my mother Jayne and my four-year-old son Charlie and having the four generations together sharing smiles, laughter, fun and happiness just adds to the memories we have shared.”
