Residents at a Sanctuary Care home in Ipswich are getting set for the festive period alongside local pre-school children, creating spectacular decorations.
In the midst of their 25-day countdown, residents and the team at Shaftesbury House Residential Care Home will be rolling up their sleeves to lovingly create festive decorations to adorn the Cowper Street home with.
Showcasing their creative talent, the residents will be joined by local youngsters from St John’s Playtime Pre-school to help add Christmas sparkle to their beautiful designs.
“I love it when the children come to visit”
91-year-old resident, Marjorie Forsdike said: “I love it when the children come to visit us, it reminds me of when my own were that size. We like playing with the balloons and singing nursery rhymes together.”
The home’s activities leader, Chris Bailey added: “Our residents really enjoy creating decorations for the home, and the help of the young children from St John’s is always welcome!
“The room lights up as soon as they arrive, and is always filled with laughter and smiles.”
Speaking of their visits acting manager at the pre-school Afsana Islam added: “The children at St John’s Playtime Pre-school really enjoy their visits and interacting with the residents.
“They gain so much from their visits and are always eager to take part in arts and crafts and singing together.”
