Double success at national care awards
Staff and residents at Sanctuary Care are celebrating after winning two prestigious national accolades at the 2020 ‘virtual’ Care Home Awards finals.
Or teams picked up the Best Use of Technology Award for our bespoke care planning app ‘kradle’, while our ‘Outstanding’ CQC rated Lammas House Residential Care Home, our care home in Coventry received a Highly Commended place in the Best for Communication category.
Sanctuary Care’s Director of Operations, Sheila O’Connor said: “The success of kradle in our homes has been phenomenal, and we are enormously proud of the teams who created it and the staff in our homes who have truly embraced it, using it to further enrich the lives of their residents.
“Home manager Rukmi Silva and her team at Lammas House are beyond outstanding in our eyes. The way they communicate with each other and their residents and loved ones is truly exceptional and we are so proud of them.”
Replacing paper-based care plans, kradle, which is being rolled out across Sanctuary Care’s homes in England and Scotland, enables staff to securely update electronic care plans at the point of care using dedicated iPhones, which ultimately gives them more time to spend with their residents.
kradle has been developed in-house by an expert team, combining Sanctuary Group’s Technology Team and Sanctuary Care staff with over 50 years of experience in the care industry. The beauty of kradle is because it has been created internally; it can be continuously improved and adapted in real-time, following direct feedback from staff in our homes.
For Rukmi her team at Lammas House, the award is a testament to the excellent communication between the staff, their residents, loved ones and professionals. Outstanding communication is central to the happiness of their residents and how the home is run.
Rukmi said: “We are so proud to have won a Highly Commended award. I have a remarkable team at Lammas House. We are like one big family and this award is a testament to the amazing care they provide, with excellent communication at the very heart.”
The nomination highlighted how residents are directly involved in how Lammas House is run. Rukmi has resident representatives who have a direct role to play in everything within the home, from interviewing potential staff to supporting the home to deliver its innovative climate change agenda.
In partnership with Care Home Management, The Care Home Awards 2020 celebrate excellence, innovation and achievement across the sector.
