Worcestershire awards hat-trick!

The team at Sanctuary Care are bursting with pride following an awards hat-trick!

We are delighted to have been shortlisted for the Health Care Employer Award in the Worcestershire Health & Social Care Awards, for the way we nurture and value our staff.

And two of these amazing staff have also made the finals – Kate Lockwood, activities coordinator at Westmead Residential Care Home in Droitwich (Care Hero Award) and June Lewis, care assistant at Hastings Residential Care Home in Malvern (Care Home Worker Award).

Sarah Clarke-Kuehn, Chief Operating Officer – Care said: “At Sanctuary Care our vision of Enriching Lives is as important for our staff as it is for our residents. By nurturing and valuing our staff and investing in them personally and professionally, we retain the best people to care our residents.”

Speaking of her shock at making the finals June said: “I couldn’t believe it when they told me. I’m really excited – it’s a great privilege and I feel very proud.”

Meanwhile Kate said: “I’m honoured to have been shortlisted and feel incredibly happy. I love my job and creating experiences that bring my residents joy gives me so much pleasure.”

Kate invests so much time finding out who her residents are and what brings them joy, so she can enrich their lives through activities. One resident loves netball, so Kate arranged for a private netball tournament in the home’s car park. Another loves motorbikes, so Kate arranged for over 20 local bikers to bring their prized models to the home for a ‘meet’.

June dedicates so much of her free time to supporting her residents and colleagues, often visiting outside her working hours to take someone to lunch or enjoy an activity. June prides herself on championing her residents to be actively involved in how Hastings is run and the support she gives to the home’s resident ambassador Edith is phenomenal.

As a leading not-for-profit care provider, Sanctuary Care was shortlisted for its dedication to enriching the lives of its staff, nurturing talent, showing staff they are valued and investing in their professional development, as well as its exceptional mental wellbeing support.

The winners will be announced at a special awards event next month, so watch this space!
