How to apply to be a Sanctuary Care volunteer

While we offer placements in all of our care homes, please note that all placements are at the discretion of the home manager based on their capacity to support a placement at a particular time.

When returning your form, you'll need to tell us three care homes where you'd like to become a volunteer, in order of preference. Depending on whether you're applying to be a regular volunteer, or complete a work experience placement, the steps to apply are slightly different:

Becoming a volunteer

  1. Complete the Volunteer Skills Checklist and Volunteer Application Form (download these below).
  2. Send these completed documents to our HR team at care.volunteer@sanctuary.co.uk, who will review all applications.
  3. Care home managers will invite shortlisted applicants to an informal meeting or will arrange a phone call.
  4. Screening checks are completed (DBS or PVG checks and references) - just like with our employees, these checks are vital to ensure the safety of our residents. A PVG check is for Scotland only - it is the Scottish equivalent of a DBS.
  5. You will be invited for induction at your chosen care home.
  6. You start volunteering with Sanctuary Care.

Completing work experience

  1. Complete the most applicable profile document below (either the Student Profile Form or Work Experience Candidate Profile Form).
  2. Send us this and a copy of your CV to our HR team at care.workexperience@sanctuary.co.uk, who will review applications.
  6. You start your work experience or student placement with Sanctuary Care.
