Set in the coastal town of Easington Colliery, Ashwood Park Residential and Nursing Home provides dementia, residential and nursing care to older people, over the age of 65.
The location of the home gives good access to a range of local attractions, and to nearby cities including Durham, Hartlepool and Sunderland.
Ashwood Park has 65 bedrooms and each bedroom is fitted with an en-suite toilet facility. Each room is decorated in a homely way emphasising the relaxing environment at Ashwood Park.
Residents enjoy socialising and relaxing in our large lounges that are fitted with modern plasma televisions. To make access and mobility easier we have signs and wide halls including spacious dining areas. The landscaped garden offers residents a pleasant outdoor space to relax during the warmer months.
There are a variety of local attractions which people enjoy visiting, including the nearby city of Durham, Dalton Park Retail Centre, Seaham Harbour, Hartlepool Marina and Beamish Museum.
Ashwood Park's friendly, dedicated and highly trained team of nurses and care staff are available and on hand to help residents with their needs, delivering high-quality care 24 hours a day.
A hairdresser, chiropodist and other professionals make regular visits to Ashwood Park to ensure the wellbeing of the people we support.
Ashwood Park offers a homely, safe and comfortable atmosphere. Care is provided by a qualified and experienced nursing team accompanied by care assistants. We offer a variety of social and therapeutic activities that people can choose to be involved in including armchair exercises, darts, card games and bingo.
Residents are also encouraged to develop their own interests and we enjoy organising events including tea dances and cake sales for residents to enjoy alongside the local community. Our events are a great opportunity for residents to spend time with their family and friends, who are always welcome to visit residents and engage in our day to day activities.
At Ashwood Park, we believe that everyone in our care should be able to maintain choice and control over their own lives. We appreciate how difficult the decision is to move into permanent or even short stay care and, our person-centred approach helps to make this transition as easy as possible.
We look to empower residents to make their own decisions about how they live their lives, which in turn ensures a much better quality of life.
We understand that people bring with them a life story of achievements, events and life experiences. We utilise these experiences and memories to ensure a tailored care package is established for each individual’s specific needs, particularly for those with memory loss.
Our assessments and bespoke plan of care, are co-ordinated between the individual themselves and their loved ones to ensure a truly person-centred approach.
Meal times are an important part of the day, our experienced catering staff prepare a varied seasonal menu of fresh, home cooked food every day and we cater for individual likes and dislikes from a cultural, religious or choice perspective.
