Blackwood Care Home in Camborne, Cornwall

Located in the old mining town of Camborne in Cornwall, Blackwood benefits from having access to the area’s main transport links – we’re really easy to get to! And we’re nestled amongst lots of local amenities, such as banks, a Post Office, restaurants, cafés and a supermarket.

The home itself features bright and colourful rooms that offer lovely views over our beautiful garden. On the ground floor, we have a series of dining and lounge areas – these spaces are where the majority of our activities take place. There’s also a hairdressing salon, so residents can look and feel their very best.

We love welcoming the visiting loved ones of our residents along for a catch-up. The private lounge on our first floor provides a nice space in which to spend quality time. It’s also where we host our condition-specific, one-to-one activities.

On those beautiful Cornish days, we love nothing more than to get outside and enjoy our garden – with its raised flowerbeds and colourful bunting. We even have a summer house, which we fundraised for through community activities. It’s a vibrant space that’s much loved by our residents. 

At Blackwood, we look to enrich the lives of the people we support – through care tailored to individual needs. We want those living at our care home in Camborne to feel safe, comfortable and loved. Our team's devoted approach helps to ensure life is enjoyable and comfortable for residents. They're like an extended family to one another.

When a resident joins us at Blackwood, the first thing we do is develop a comprehensive care plan with them. Here, we'll set out the care we aim to provide and how we'll deliver it. This plan is assessed and evolves regularly, and we'll work with the resident to ensure their care needs are met. So, you can rest assured if you or your loved one joins the Sanctuary family, dedicated care will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week from a passionate team.

Respite care is available for residents who need temporary care too – whether it’s while their regular carer takes a break from their duties or during a period of convalescence.  

Individuality and engagement are so important to us at Blackwood. We love to get involved in a variety of different activities and events - from gentle sit-fit sessions, arts and crafts to lively games of bingo (a big favourite!) and tea parties (with plenty of treats). And we love a birthday celebration! We also have a hairdresser come to visit the home once a week.

Our residents are always free to make plans. Moving to a care home doesn't mean the end of life as it once was - we always encourage our residents to maintain the hobbies they enjoyed before they became Sanctuary residents. 

Here, at Sanctuary Care, we're proud to be for people, not profit . Any surplus money goes right back into our homes and staff. Our team has played a huge part in fostering an atmosphere that's warm, friendly and welcoming. They're passionate about making a difference in the lives of each one of our residents. 

It is usual for residents in care homes to contribute to the cost of their own care. Some people have the resources to pay for this in full, whilst others make means-tested contributions.

Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2024 weekly care fees for residential care start from £1,508, but may be in the region of 30% more*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.

*If you require more specialist care such as 1-2-1 support, your weekly fee could be higher.
