Keeping busy at our Northfield care home
There’s no shortage of engaging activities for our residents to get involved in – we’re a busy bunch. We directly involve our residents in deciding what’s included in our activities calendar too.
From one day to the next you can expect to find us:
- growing our own veggies in the garden – something our residents living with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia, in particular, find very therapeutic.
- hosting cheese and wine evenings – which we encourage the friends and family of our residents to get involved in.
- welcoming student paramedics from Birmingham, who’ve carried out work experience, and toddlers from the local nursery in Northfield.
- playing games on our ‘Magic Table’, involving lights, popping bubbles and catching fish. It’s great for people living with dementia, encouraging gentle movement and social interaction.
- broadening our tastebuds with non-traditional dishes, as well as savouring hearty home-cooked meals and freshly-baked cakes – all made by our on-site chef.
Pre-bookable respite care at The Beeches
As well as residential care and support for people living with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia, The Beeches care home also provides planned respite care breaks.
These breaks are ideal if you are a caregiver looking after an elderly relative, and you need a relief care break to recharge your batteries. We also offer emergency respite care in the unfortunate event something unexpected happens.
Our short stay breaks are ideal if you are considering transitioning into care and would like to get a flavour of what life at our Northfield care home is like. Or perhaps you are an elderly person living alone and would like a little companionship.
