Situated between the rustic beauty spots of Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor, and just over half an hour from Plymouth, Chyvarhas is a real home-from-home for our residents.

Cosy lounges provide comfortable areas where residents can socialise or unwind. The lounges offer views over the gardens, with double doors leading to a secure, sensory garden, with wheelchair-accessible pathways and outdoor seating. In the summer months, the gardens become a hub of activity within the home.

Each day we gather together to eat freshly made food, prepared from scratch by our in-house chef. We make sure everyone can enjoy meals by ensuring all special dietary requirements are catered for.

Our home also benefits from being on a main bus route, so we’re easily accessible to visitors. And residents are always free to make their own plans for the day.

Here, at Chyvarhas, we provide person-centric care. We take the time to get to know our residents individually, which helps us to develop a comprehensive care plan, where we set out how we'll support them and what we'll do to achieve this. We have qualified nurses on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This gives our residents peace of mind that they're in a safe and comfortable environment.

Our care home in Callington also offers respite care, where temporary residents can join us to receive the support they need on a short-term basis - as they recover from illness, or while their primary caregiver takes a break from their duties.

Individuality and comfort are important to us. At Chyvarhas, our lovely spaces host lots of engaging activities for our residents to get involved in, all planned by our passionate team. From monthly themed celebrations and dementia support groups to local community fêtes, animal therapy visits and lots more.

Our residents and their loved ones are what gives Chyvarhas its unique charm and sense of identity. It’s up to our residents how they wish to spend their time, whether that’s sitting down with a good book, taking part in scheduled activities such as music and crafts, taking a nap in our quiet zones or doing a bit of gardening. There’s something for everyone!

It is usual for residents in care homes to contribute to the cost of their own care. Some people have the resources to pay for this in full, whilst others make means-tested contributions.

Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2024 weekly care fees for residential care start from £1,373 and for nursing care £1,673, but may be in the region of 30% more*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.
