Within walking distance of the famous Portobellow Market, Westmead is in a really thriving, cultural and diverse part of Westminster. A stone’s throw from what is now one of London’s most popular tourist attractions, Westmead is also close to the Grand Union Canal.
Situated in the trendy and vibrant Notting Hill area of London, the home lies on the route of the Notting Hill Carnival, one of the country’s most famous parades. Each year, we set up seating outside the home, where our residents have a party of their own.
Life in our care home
Our attractive garden is secure and features flower beds and a seating area to relax in the warmer weather. Volunteers from across Westminster regularly come to join us in our gardening club which our residents really enjoy. This is just one example of the inspiring activities that take place in our home every single day.
Our team empower our residents to remain as independent as possible, while spending their time enjoying the things they like to do. We deliver person-centred and fulfilling activities shaped by our residents likes and dislikes, and their pastimes they’ve always adored.
And because of our fantastic location, we are able to take our residents out on weekly walks to local cafés and other places they would like to visit. We also organise regular lunches at The Tabernacle, a hub for cultural arts and entertainment in Notting Hill.
Every day is different at Westmead. You can find us enjoying anything and everything, from regular exercise sessions and arts and crafts, to animal therapy, where four-legged friends from Pets as Therapy pop along for a therapeutic activity.
On top of all that we also hold art and reading groups with residents at a local sheltered housing scheme and welcome a hairdresser every week through our doors for a spot of pampering.
Award-winning care home staff
We have a team that delivers residential care, dementia care and respite care with the upmost dignity. We care for our residents as if they were members of our own family. It’s our family ethos and a genuine can-do attitude that makes us truly special and something
All of our team members are shining stars but one in particular was shortlisted for a London regional care home award. Bachir Bentama-Jbari, a care assistant, went head-to-head with care professionals from across the region for The Care Newcomer Award, hosted by the Great British Care Awards.
Even though he missed out on the final hurdle, he made it all the way to the glitzy awards reception thanks to his glowing nomination.
Within his nomination, Bachir was described as being someone with an extremely ‘empathetic nature’, who ‘deeply cares for his residents’ emotion wellbeing and happiness’, while ‘exuding kindness and compassion’.
We were all so proud of Bachir, everyone was behind him and it was a celebration for all of us. We are one big team and he helped put our care home on the London map!
