Dalby Court Residential Care Home provides 34 general residential rooms,19 dementia residential rooms for elderly people and a 10 bedded suite for people with learning disabilities. Dalby Court continually strives to provide the highest quality care in a comfortable homely atmosphere.

We respect the privacy, dignity and individuality of each person and offer a range of activities for people to become involved with as part of their personal tailored care programme.

Accommodation

Dalby Court is split into three suites – the Sunflower Learning Disability suite, Bluebell Dementia suite, based on the ground floor, and the Poppy Suite on the first floor which provides general residential care.

All the rooms within Dalby Court have en-suite facilities with nurse call systems.  Walls in the Sunflower Unit and Bluebell Unit are attractively decorated with items designed for sensory stimulation.

These range from the indoor garden area, which is a lovely sunny corner with flowers and plants, to the kitchen themed area, which displays various kitchen items to act as “memory joggers” and promote interaction.  All communal toilets and bathrooms have colour-co-ordinated doors and signs to help facilitate recognition.

We also have two lounges on the ground floor, including a large Victorian style conservatory and quiet lounge. These areas are ideal for group activities and we also have a large fifty-inch television.

The Poppy Residential suite contains 34 rooms, all of which are en-suite with nurse call systems in all rooms. People staying in the Poppy Residential suite also have access to our Victorian style conservatory.  There is a lounge/activities room offering TV facilities and games.

Throughout Dalby Court, we offer a range spacious and well-equipped bathing and shower facilities, including electronically operated assisted baths. We have wide corridors, doorways and handrails to encourage mobility and provide easy access for wheelchairs.

We offer access to a variety of services including hairdressing, chiropody, dentist, optician and physiotherapy by individual arrangement. There are also regular visits from representatives of different religions and our home manager is happy to help organise any additional services that you may require.

We have landscaped gardens, sitting areas, a patio, pathways suitable for wheelchairs and a peaceful secure garden.

Dalby Court is situated next to St Mary’s Roman Catholic Cathedral and we support people in attending services whenever they wish. The home has excellent transport links to Middlesbrough town centre as well as nearby towns and villages.

Our team

Our care team is on-hand 24 hours a day, every day of the year and staff are dedicated to delivering care with kindness.

To ensure we continue to provide the best standards of care and support to our residents, we recruit and train only the best staff.

Whilst they receive a variety of on-going training to ensure their skills remain up-to-date, along with an enhanced DBS check (formerly CRB), it is their dedication to our residents which makes them truly special.

Activities

Dalby Court has been carefully designed and superbly equipped to offer an excellent range of modern and social care and a host of facilities and amenities that support people to enrich their lives and maintain their independence. We offer a wide range of treatments, including dog therapy and pony therapy, which prove both therapeutic and enjoyable for the people we support.

Other activities that people can choose to be involved in with include visits to the local swimming pool, tea dances and theatre trips. We host fine dining evenings, where residents are invited to join their family members for a delicious gourmet meal.

We also encourage people to engage in group activities such as a knitting and gardening.  We support people to continue with the hobbies and interests they enjoyed before arriving at Dalby Court as well as encourage them to explore new avenues and experiences.

Care and Support

All care is based on an individual care plan tailored to each individual resident's needs. GP visits are easily organised. Care is available from highly experienced and qualified staff. The needs, wishes, choices and goals of the people who stay with us are paramount and care is tailored to the needs of each individual.

We develop a bespoke care programme in conjunction with each person and their families which is regularly reviewed and updated. We develop specific objectives and goals with each person and support them in maintaining their independence in their daily living.

Regular reviews are held where the individual’s progress is monitored and used to inform goal setting. We always look at people’s abilities and achievements rather than just what they need assistance with and support people to make choices about their own care pathway and lifestyle.

Home-cooked meals

Meals are an important part of the day at Dalby Court and have a protected meal time in place. Our expert chef prepares a varied menu of fresh home cooked food every day and we cater for individual likes and dislikes from a cultural, religious or choice perspective. We provide a table service, a daily change of menu and all special diets and preferences are catered for. We provide assistance with feeding where needed and beverages are always readily available. Visitors are always welcome to join us for meals.
