Lake and Orchard Residential and Nursing Home provides care and support for older people requiring nursing, residential, dementia care or assisted living support, as well as adults with mental health problems.
We are focused on ensuring people receive the highest standard of care that is tailored to their needs, wishes and choices.
Lake and Orchard has ninety-four bright modern bedrooms arrange over a number of smaller suites. All bedrooms have an en-suite toilet and hand basin and fifty-nine also have en-suite shower facilities. All bedrooms are designed to provide maximum comfort and many are equipped with flat-screen televisions. Emergency call systems are located in both the bedroom and bathroom areas. Individuals are also encouraged to bring memorabilia and items of furniture for their bedroom to make it feel more familiar and relaxing.
We have large spacious lounges and dining rooms where people can relax, socialise and enjoy meals. Many communal areas are decorated with images that the people we support have created, which helps provide a more personal and familiar environment. We have a tranquil landscaped garden where people can enjoy gardening or take afternoon tea.
The home is situated in rural North Yorkshire in the village of Kelfield, close to neighbouring villages and the historic market town of Selby. Lake and Orchard is set in twelve acres of beautiful countryside and overlooks a large fishing lake.
We have an in-house hairdressing salon and a prayer room. Our bistro-style coffee shop is a great place for the people we support to spend time with their family and friends.
Our care team is on-hand 24 hours a day, every day of the year and staff are dedicated to delivering care with kindness.
Whilst they receive a variety of on-going training to ensure their skills remain up-to-date, along with an enhanced DBS check (formerly CRB), it is their dedication to our residents which makes them truly special.
Our team of carers and nurses are selected for their expertise in caring for people with dementia, mental health issues and physical disability and we support people to make choices about their lifestyles and care pathways.
Our Activities Co-ordinator organises an extensive range of activities which individuals can choose to be involved in. This may include gardening, pampering afternoons, karaoke, manicures, baking, quiz sessions and regular outings to surrounding towns and villages in the home's own minibus. The activities offered are very much based on the individual person’s choice and interests.
We support people to maintain lifestyles that are as similar as possible to those enjoyed at home and encourage regular interaction with the local community. We also encourage friends and family to be involved through regular visits and participation in special activities, events and open days.
At Lake and Orchard, we encourage residents to make their own choices about how they live their lives. We believe that every individual, irrespective of their physical or psychological condition, has the right to be treated with dignity and respect and supported to maintain choice and control over their lives.
We understand that people bring with them a life story of achievements, events and life experiences and appreciate that this information is essential to deliver a tailored care package for each individual’s specific needs.
Our person-centred assessments are all tailored to the whole person and we will look at what people can do, not just what they need assistance with.
We also have regular visits from manicurists, beauticians, chiropodists and physiotherapists.
Most importantly we ensure that the individual themselves and their loved ones help us to put together a bespoke plan of care. We appreciate how difficult the decision is to move into permanent or even short stay care and we aim to make this transition as easy as possible.
Meal times are an important part of the day at Lake and Orchard. Our expert catering staff prepare a varied menu of fresh home cooked food and we cater for individual likes and dislikes from a cultural, religious or choice perspective.
