Rated ‘Good’ in every area in the latest Care Quality Commission report, Basingfield Court is a home where residents are in the driving seat when it comes to things they like to do.
An extract from the report reads: “People told us staff were caring. One person said, "The staff are very caring and kind, they know how I like things done." Another person told us, "I am very happy here, the staff are wonderful. I get on well with them and they chat with me and share a joke. I think they are very caring. The ones that I know well ask about my family and grandchildren. Some are more like family to me." CQC report published 3 May 2019.
Safe admissions into our care homes include the option for new residents to self-isolate in their own home before joining us.
Our virtual tours enable you to find out more about life in our care home and ask any questions you may have to a senior member of our team.
Our home has a pre-bookable designated visiting space to enable families to visit their loved ones safely. Please contact our home directly to pre-book.
Residents in the care home, most of whom receive residential care and some who live with dementia, are very much involved in activities. Recently they decided they would love to see a Come Dine with Me-style supper club. With the support of the team, this is going to be a regular event. The residents plan the menu and are supported by staff to buy the ingredients to create a dining experience to remember. The first one was a huge success and the residents all dressed to the nines for what felt like a night out in a restaurant.
Residents in the care home have supported the team to transform the gardens. We invested in some new tools, lightweight wheelbarrows, wheelchair friendly raised planters and with a little elbow grease, the grounds are now bursting with colour. There’s every flower you can imagine, tomato plants galore and hanging baskets lovingly created by the residents.
Inside the home itself, there has been an impressive refurbishment. There is a bistro-style coffee lounge where loved ones and residents enjoy spending time together. This room has also been used by a mother and baby group in Hampshire, who come to the care home on a regular basis.
The bedrooms that have their own suites are spacious and beautifully presented. With en-suite bathrooms, small kitchenettes and lounge areas, these suites are wonderful for promoting residents’ independence. They are also perfect if people prefer to spend time with their visitors away from the main communal lounges.
For those who love to socialise the team organises cheese and wine evenings at Basingfield Court. These are a lovely activity for the residents to enjoy. The chef prepares platters of fine cheeses and there are a variety of wines to accompany them.
Children from local Scouts, Beavers, Rainbows and Girl Guides groups in the town regularly pop in for a game of bingo and to treat our residents to musical performances. Youngsters from Basingstoke’s St Mary’s CE Junior School are also regular guests, joining us for everything from World Book Day to choral performances. Our residents have also been invited to the school for afternoon tea.
Basingfield Court has a fantastic relationship with our local Co-op store in Basingstoke, which donates flowers to the home which we use for flower arranging sessions. The store also held a fund-raising event and presented over £400 to the home, which will be well spent on trips for our residents.
A Zumba Gold instructor comes to the home every fortnight. High energy and fun, these classes are specially tailored to our more mature audience and the residents absolutely love them!
As you can see there’s plenty going on at Basingfield Court and we invite you along for a cup of tea to see for yourself.
It is usual for residents in care homes to contribute to the cost of their own care. Some people have the resources to pay for their care in full, whilst others make means-tested contributions. Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to truly understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2021 weekly care fees for residential care start from £1,090, but may be in the region of 20% more*, dependent on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options. *If you require more specialist care such as 1-2-1 support your weekly fee could be higher.
