Beechwood Residential Care Home in Upton-upon-Severn

One of the main focal points at Beechwood is our extensive gardens, which stretch the entire length of the care home. Our residents love to sit outside and listen to the birds or get involved in growing their own produce. Volunteers from Sanctuary Care have transformed a separate central garden nestled in the middle of the care home. With sensory planting, this area is beautiful and will continue to flourish.

The heated conservatory, with comfortable chairs, looks out onto the gardens and is a wonderful space - and there is also a summer house for the warmer weather.

Our care home has its own chef and catering team, who pride themselves on providing delicious, home-cooked meals. From roast dinners with all the trimmings to homemade soups and a firm favourite – fish and chip Fridays, mealtimes are a real highlight of the day. As well as seasonal menus with plenty of choices, there are home-baked cakes and biscuits for afternoon tea.  

We have a large day room where our residents enjoy a wide range of activities, including a luncheon club, games and so much more. We have also enjoyed visits from our favourite Pets as Therapy dogs and other animals, which are especially therapeutic for our residents living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

Other activities include gardening, a cookery club, arts and crafts, knit and natter sessions, as well as trips outside of the residential care home to popular spots outside Upton-upon-Severn, across Worcestershire and the West Midlands. We are also lucky to be a stone’s throw from The Morgan Motor Company, the West Midland Safari Park and Webbs of Wychbold garden centre in Worcestershire.

As well as providing residential care and support for people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, we offer planned relief respite care breaks, which can be booked in advance, so are ideal if you are a caregiver for an elderly relative at home and would like to book a short break of your own. These are also ideal if you are an older person living alone and would like some companionship and social interaction, or indeed if you are considering transitioning into a care home and would like to see if it feels right for you.

It is usual for residents in care homes to contribute to the cost of their own care. Some people have the resources to pay for this in full, whilst others make means-tested contributions.

Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to understand the level of care and support needed.

We received an overall rating of ‘Good’ from our most recent inspection, in December 2018.

We provide residential, dementia and respite care for elderly people aged 65 and over.
