New home manager at Bridge View House Care Home in Dundee

Taking over a care home in the middle of a global coronavirus pandemic is quite a challenge to say the least!
We talk to Katie Finnie, who has done just that. Katie became the home manager of Bridge View House Care Home in Dundee in July, not long after Sanctuary Care took over the home in January 2020.
Katie talks us through how amazing her team have been, welcoming her with open arms, and how proud she is of their dedication to enriching their residents’ lives and embracing change.
Katie is already making improvements
Katie has already made many changes in her short time at Bridge View House, which is situated on Magdalen Green, overlooking the River Tay Bridge.
The home has two fantastic activities coordinators, delivering truly person-centred choices for the residents and Katie has recruited two new nurses.
Internal works have also been carried out over the last few weeks to create a much brighter and fresher feel to the home.
The on-going improvements have already led to a sharp increase in the home’s internal quality compliance score - just the start for Katie and her team.
Nursing experience of over 10 years
A registered nurse who has worked in the care sector for 13 years, Katie was inspired to work in older persons’ care at a young age. She was in awe of the amazing nurses that cared for her great grandmother following her stroke and knew this is what she wanted to do.
She said: “Working and caring for older people has always been my passion and one I feel is a great privilege.
“Sanctuary Care has an amazing support network and I am very lucky to have a wonderful team here – their commitment is amazing and they simply go above and beyond.”
