Sanctuary Care up for Care Employer Award
Sanctuary Care has been named as a finalist in the Great British Care Awards for the Care Employer accolade.
We will be going through to the regional finals of the awards, with a ‘virtual’ judging day taking place next month.
Our Director of Operations, Sheila O’Connor said: “We are over the moon with the shortlisting. We pride ourselves on attracting and retaining staff that share our values and our vision of enriching lives.
“To do this we have to be an employer that people are proud to work for and I believe this award is testament to just that.
“We are enormously proud of the staff in our care homes and central support services, many of whom have truly gone above and beyond, especially during this global pandemic and we cannot thank them enough.”
Highlights of the nomination include how we offer a suite of bespoke courses to staff through our internal Learning and Nurse Development Team, helping their careers to flourish.
Another focus was how we nurture our staff, supporting people with special qualities to develop their careers, including 14 members of care staff who could be on their way to becoming nurses through apprenticeship programmes.
The nomination highlighted how we employed 84 wellbeing assistants to support our residents, enhancing their social and emotional wellbeing during the global Covid-19 pandemic. We also purchased iPads to support our residents to stay connected with their loved ones via Skype and Facetime.
And so that our staff did not have to face empty supermarket shelves during the pandemic, we worked with supplier Brakes so they could have personal shopping delivered direct to their care homes.
We also embrace technology, like our bespoke electronic care planning app ‘kradle’, which gives our staff even more quality time to spend with our residents.
The live awards finals will take place in Birmingham in May. If Sanctuary Care wins, we will go through to the national finals later in the year.
