Creating a regal legacy - our residents have loved planting trees for the Jubilee

June and Pat plant a tree at Beach Lawns Residential and Nursing Home in Weston-super-Mare

Residents across our homes have been proud to join the nation, creating a lasting legacy by taking part in the ‘Plant a Tree for the Jubilee’ scheme.

The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) has been set up to encourage people across the UK to plant a tree to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee this weekend.

For several months green fingered residents across our homes have absolutely loved getting involved. From miniature willow, plum, magnolia and acer varieties, to cherry blossom, apple, pear and olive trees, there have been so many to admire.

Some of the residents who took part include Ben, who planted a miniature willow at our Briggs Lodge Residential and Nursing Home in Devizes, as did Pat and June at our Beach Lawns Residential and Nursing Home in Weston-super-Mare.

Home manager at Briggs, Alison Wetherall said: “We are delighted to be making history here at Briggs by planting a tree which we hope will flourish for years to come, to mark such a wonderful royal occasion.”

Our residents have been joined by schools, nurseries, Scouts and Guides groups across the UK, who will be planting trees until the end of this Jubilee year.

With a focus on planting sustainably, the QGC is inspiring people to and create a legacy in their localities, in honour of our Monarch.
