Allanbank gets 'Very Good' in all areas
The team and residents at our Allanbank Care Home in Dumfries had reason to celebrate following a glowing report by the Scottish Care Inspectorate.
The home was graded as ‘very good’ across five quality indicators. These include residents’ wellbeing, leadership, staff performance, the care home setting, and care and support planning.
The positive inspection report adds the Dumfries care home’s impressive record, having been named Scotland's Care Home of the Year at the national Caring UK Awards in 2023.
The thriving care home, which has been a cornerstone of the Dumfries community for over four years, provides respite, residential, dementia, nursing, and mental health support for up to 69 residents.
In the February 2024 inspection, the Scottish Care Inspectorate praised the “knowledgeable” and “skilled” team at Allanbank Care Home for their strong sense of collaboration, which results in "high-quality care for residents."
Amongst the standout features observed in the report was the care home’s “vibrant” activities programme, which caters to residents’ individual interests. From pantomime performances led by Activities Coordinator, Nick Barry (who goes by the stage name of Miss Tiffany Rose) to art classes with carer Rhiannon Dewar, this programme ensures that each and every resident can continue to engage with their passions and discover new hobbies.
The report also commended the "high quality of care” delivered at Allanbank Care Home, which ensures that residents are treated with dignity and respect, with personalised care plans that reflect the wishes and choices of the people who care and support.
