Chyvarhas team beam with pride following CQC report

The team at our care home in Callington are beaming with pride after receiving a glowing inspection report from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Chyvarhas Residential and Nursing Home has been graded as ‘good’ across five quality indicators - safety, effectiveness, care, responsiveness and leadership.

The report had high praise indeed for the home’s management and staffing team. Some of the comments from residents included: “It’s like a family”, “I like it here very much. It’s 10 out of 10” and “You cannot find a better place”. 

These thoughts were echoed by their relatives during the unannounced inspection, with highlights including: “I think it is lovely. I would highly recommend this place,” and “The staff are so lovely, all so caring, thoughtful and understanding.”

The inspectors noted how happy, compassionate and well-trained the team are, commenting: “Staff were well motivated and enjoyed working at Chyvarhas.”

Another standout area was the team’s dedication to finding out what their residents loved to spend their time doing, enabling them to provide stimulating and meaningful experiences for them to enjoy. “There was a wide range of activities within the service and staff encouraged people to engage with their hobbies and develop new interests,” the report added.

The home was also praised for the team’s commitment to engaging with the local community and partner organisations to develop “innovative activities” for the residents, including intergenerational opportunities with local school and nursery groups, who regularly visit Chyvarhas, as well as exploring new and exciting technologies such a virtual reality experiences, 3D scanning and printing.
