Julie Ann’s inspiring journey with Sanctuary Care

A female care worker smiling into the camera

Since joining Sanctuary Care in 2010, Julie Ann has demonstrated unwavering commitment, compassion, and professional growth. Beginning her Sanctuary journey as a part-time night support worker, she cared for residents with physical and learning disabilities while completing her studies in Health and Social Care Management. Julie Ann’s dedication to Care and her desire to grow led her to Watlington and District Care Home, where she was supported through the Overseas Nursing Programme.

With the guidance of a dedicated team and the completion of her training at Manchester Metropolitan University, she became a Registered Nurse in 2012. Over the next decade, Julie Ann has built a strong clinical foundation, earning a promotion to Senior Nurse in 2022 and stepping into the Deputy Manager role in 2023.

Julie Ann praised the Sanctuary mentorship programme. She credits her growth to the supportive culture at Sanctuary Care, and is now focused on empowering her colleagues, just as she was once supported. Some of Julie Ann’s achievements include being shortlisted for Registered Nurse of the Year in 2021 and completing the Florence Nightingale Leadership Programme in 2024.

Julie Ann is passionate about nurse-led care and enjoys working with a team that shares her high standards. Her leadership, nursing skills, and commitment to learning make her a great example for others at Sanctuary Care.

Her journey shows how far someone can go with the right support, hard work, and determination. She’s a great example of how one person can make a huge difference to their team, their care home, and the lives of the people they support.
