Crazy Creatures at Cedar Court!

Our care home in Seaham recently welcomed some truly wild visitors, thanks to a heart-warming collaboration with Crazy Creatures, an exotic animal company.
The team at not-for-profit Cedar Court Residential and Nursing Home recently hosted a unique animal experience. Residents were treated to some unforgettable interactions with a range of unusual animals.
The atmosphere was full of excitement and laughter as the creatures made their way around the home. Some residents were brave enough to hold an enormous python, while others preferred to admire from a distance, all with smiles on their faces!
One resident, Gordon, shared his thoughts after holding the snake, describing it as “very heavy, wet and cold!” He marvelled at its unique texture and laughed throughout the experience. His reaction was echoed by many, who found the animals both thrilling and surprisingly calming to touch.
While the exotic creatures certainly stole the show, it was the adorable rabbits that were the residents’ favourites. Passed gently from lap to lap, the rabbits hopped around residents’ knees, creating a sense of joy and laughter that stayed long after the animals had gone.
Kris Wilson, Cedar Court’s Activities Coordinator, highlighted the deeper impact of the visit, “it gives the residents really fresh experiences, and sometimes can offer nostalgia, with many of the residents recalling how the reptiles reminded them of past family holidays or trips to the zoo.”
This animal encounter was another beautiful reminder of how meaningful moments can be.
