Resident Mary leads retro rave!

Residents at Abercorn House in Hamilton were treated to an unforgettable night of music, fun and laughter as the home transformed into a retro ‘Rave Party’. And the event was headlined by resident Mary Frame, who stepped up under her new stage name, ‘DJ Frame’.
Mary Frame, who moved into the home last year, was delighted to perform DJ duties at the request of the home’s team alongside her son Ian Frame, a former professional DJ, who arrived fully prepared with his own decks and laser lights.
To mark her debut behind the decks, Mary wore a personalised ‘DJ Frame’ Tshirt.
Throughout the event, Mary and Ian played a brilliant mix of the residents’ favourite hits from the 50s through to the 80s, including Dancing Queen, Staying Alive, Tragedy, The LocoMotion, and Sweet Caroline. Residents, staff and loved ones filled the dancefloor, singing along to the music and showing off their best moves.
There was also buffet and colourful Jello Shots - available in both nonalcoholic versions and a Bacardi option.
In true nightclub style, residents were asked to present ID cards at the ‘door’ that staff had created especially for the event, complete with humorous alternative ages.
Organiser of the event, activities coordinator Von Ryan Ong said: “Mary was a little hesitant at first but absolutely loved being our resident DJ – she was beaming from ear to ear the whole time! At Abercorn House we are always thinking of exciting ways to enrich our residents’ lives and music brings so much joy, so what better way than to have our residents in charge of the play list!”
Mary’s son Ian said: “This event was such a great idea – what a great night. I haven’t seen mum enjoy herself so much – now I know why they call her the dancing queen!
“It was great to see so many residents sing along to some classics from the 50s to the noughties. And it was great to see families and staff up dancing and enjoying themselves with glow sticks!”
