kradle, our bespoke electronic care planning app, shortlisted for Innovation award

Finalist - Excellence in Innovation category at Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber Business Awards 2022 graphic

Sanctuary Care has been named a finalist in the Innovation category of the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce Business Awards 2022, for its bespoke electronic care planning app ‘kradle’.

Replacing paper-based care plans, kradle gives staff more time to spend with residents, by enabling them to update their care plans securely and efficiently on dedicated mobile devices at the point of care.

Part of Sanctuary, a not-for-profit group, a project team of Sanctuary Care’s own operational care staff, partnered with Sanctuary’s Technology Team created kradle, which was successfully piloted in our Worcestershire homes in 2017. Today it’s been rolled out to 80 of Sanctuary Care’s 98 care homes, with the rest due to follow in the near future.

Director of Business Development, Chris Poole said: “At Sanctuary Care we’re passionate about continually learning and embracing new technologies and innovative ways of working. This ensures that our staff are given the best tools to deliver exceptional quality care that enriches our residents’ lives - kradle is a shining example that we are incredibly proud of.

“The beauty of kradle is it enables more person-centred care than ever before. It allows staff to build a picture of who someone is as a unique individual, their life histories, emotional and spiritual needs, not just what ‘care’ they need.

“And with our own dedicated internal team, kradle continually evolves with the needs of our staff, residents and the wider business, so the possibilities are endless.”

During a Care Quality Commission inspection at our Haven home in Middlesex, staff told inspectors kradle “revolutionised the way they work”. At our Watlington home in Oxfordshire, kradle was praised heavily when the home received its ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating, with inspectors describing plans as truly “person-centred”.

Sanctuary Care will find out if it has won the Innovation category, which is sponsored by Malvern Hills Science Park, at a black tie awards ceremony on Thursday 7 July at Worcester Arena. The event will welcome over 700 business leaders from across the two counties to celebrate the finalists, winners and highly commended businesses.
