We are the 200th Veteran Friendly home!

Three people stand indoors, with the person in the middle holding a certificate. A bouquet of flowers sits on a small table to the left. Shelves and a door are visible in the background.

The team and residents at our Barony Lodge in Nantwich has become the 200th care home to achieve Veteran Friendly status.

Barony Lodge Residential Care Home has just been awarded Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) status.

As part of their commitment the dedicated staff, who currently care for three veterans, established close links with local armed forces community groups, creating important bonds and connections.

They ensure that any external healthcare professionals who see their residents are fully aware of their service status, discreetly placing poppies outside their bedroom doors to remind visitors.

The Sanctuary Care home’s manager Jo Cookson, said “We’re incredibly proud to have achieved Veteran Friendly Framework accreditation, and to be the 200th home to do so is truly an honour for all of us here at Barony Lodge.

“Our VFF status is testament to our commitment to recognising and supporting those who have served. We are dedicated to enriching the lives of our residents in every way we can, and this accreditation highlights how we are in an even better position to provide the truly person-centred care and understanding our veterans deserve.”

The VFF is a collaboration between Armed Forces charities Royal Star & Garter and Royal British Legion and NHS Veterans’ Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VCHA).
