Riverlee Celebrates Glowing ‘Good’ CQC report

Group of staff celebrating

The team at Sanctuary Care’s Riverlee Residential and Nursing Home in Greenwich are proud of their glowing Care Quality Commission report,  rated ‘Good’ in every single area.

During the inspection at the not-for-profit care home, relatives and residents consistently praised the devotion of the team, describing how they “always go the extra mile.”

A relative commented, “The staff are absolutely fantastic, their whole manner is affectionate and patient.” While another relative said: “The staff are fantastic; they are caring, loving and supportive.”

Staff spoke with pride about their work, with comments including: “We look after the residents like they’re part of our own family”, and “I love my job, we are all here to look after the residents.”

The inspection highlighted strong leadership and organisation, with high praise for home manager John Ogbe. A relative commented, “The home is very well run, everything happens when it should and there is a lovely calm atmosphere.”

Following the report, John said: “This is a true testament to our amazing team here at Riverlee. Every day they show such devotion to enriching the lives of our residents and their loved ones and I couldn’t be prouder of their compassion and commitment."

Glowing feedback for staff was a theme echoed throughout the report. Comments included, “These carers are lovely here”, and “[loved one] likes her carers, she smiles when they come in.”

Another highlight was the mealtime experience, with a kitchen team who have received the highest food hygiene rating of 5 from the Food Standards Agency. One relative described how they knew their loved one enjoyed their meals because of the “… licking of lips and mms!” while someone else commented that they “love the food”.

And the experiences residents enjoy were another stand-out part of the report, which highlighted a lively and inclusive programme of activities, from cultural and religious celebrations, to trips out into the community, live music sessions, arts, knitting classes, reminiscence sessions and so much more. Relatives’ comments included: “They love singing and the staff involve them in any celebrations; the activities staff celebrate everything they can think of.”
